The best lesson I learned was from an uncle, who was a nature and sports photographer for several decades. "Be one with the camera." Since he shot with Hasselblads, he practiced what he said. Very physical with his framing, especially working the sidelines during NFL American football games. I applied those principles in the street.
agree with you that in every city, large or small does not matter, you can make great pictures, what matters is to always wear the equipment over the photographic eye and the ability to identify with and adapt to various places.
This photo is simple, not easy and immediate intuition, but then, thanks to the excellent black and white leaves look attractively. A greeting.
I would love to, but I cannot afford to travel at the moment. I did, however, photograph in Chattanooga and Johnson City, TN (the Starbucks shot is in Johnson City). I also did a lot in Asheville, NC. I have quite a few I will post this week. NYC is NYC, but small American cities can be be just amazing. But, yes, if I had the opportunity, I would shoot anywhere.
